Some of you may remember that, a few years ago, Slowly offered a small collection of branded merchandise such as coffee mugs, hats, and T-shirts. It was an attempt to bring Slowly beyond the app and into everyday life, but it was paused at the time due to unexpected challenges, while Slowly remained focused on its core journey of fostering meaningful penpal connections.

Over the years, we have consistently received requests from users about merchandise. The idea was never forgotten , but simply set aside until the right moment. We believe that moment has come, and we are happy that Slowly Store will soon return.

The Store Begins with Slowly’s Icons

The Store’s return will begin with one of the most recognizable elements of the Slowly experience: stamps. On Slowly, they have always been more than graphic design, they are symbols of identity, culture, and shared moments. Over the years, stamps have long showcased authentic traditions, city icons, festivals, events, and more, becoming distinctive works of art that carry meaning and shared memories across borders. Now, we hope to bring this same spirit from digital icons into the real world through a new collection of stamp stickers. Imagine your favorite Slowly stamp jumping off the screen and into daily life, styling your notebook, brightening your coffee mug (yes, our stickers are made from premium PVC-free material, water-resistant and dishwasher-safe!), or sharing with Slowly friends as a small reminder of the connections you’ve built together.

Shaped by the Slowly Community

In preparing for the Store’s launch, Slowly hopes to shape the first step together with the community. Voting is now open for the first sticker collection, one that reflects the shared voices of the community. International Days - The International Days series that has been launched has reached a state of near excess, sometimes with more than 4 releases in a week. Some of them are interesting but lack recognition, so conducting a comprehensive review and adjustment is necessary. Besides, our data collection team has been gathering relevant data, which often overlaps with user suggestions. Therefore, we will stop examining requests in this category in the future to improve productivity.

Public Figures - There are many great people everywhere. Our team is not suited to the role of determining who is more important or memorable. We will leave these jobs to the relevant organizations or government. Therefore, we will only issue stamps for specific public figures: 1. with international days or commemorative days designated by the United Nations or other international organizations (global release); 2. with commemorative days or public holidays designated by the local government or credible organizations (regional release).

Religions and Mythology - There are many religions in the world. We do not intend to promote any one religion, and we do not want anyone to feel disrespected. The lines between religion and mythology are often blurred, and we are trying to establish guidelines to help our team differentiate between the two. Until then, the review and production of stamps with religious or mythological themes will be suspended unless it is a festival or public holiday (regional release) designated by the local government or a credible organization.

Lastly, we urge everyone to maintain online etiquette, communicate openly and inclusively, and respect the opinions of others.

How to Participate?

If you have an interesting idea - whether it is about your own country or the world, you can submit it through the "Request a New Stamp" form. We recommend adding photos and links as supplementary information in addition to text descriptions, so that our team and other users can better understand your proposal.

Our system will automatically search for relevant suggestions when you enter a topic, so as to facilitate management and centralize the discussions. If a similar idea already exists, you can leave a comment to participate in the forum* directly, add information or upvote.

Upvoting can also help the system select and push trending topics to the homepage, so that more users can see them and help our team make decisions.

Review Priority

Currently, our team will roll out 0-5 stamps based on the number of active users in each region. Our future goal is to provide regional free stamps for each country and increase the coverage of regional premium stamps. Review and launch sequence will be prioritized with the numbers of local users and stamps already launched. Naturally, we will also consider other factors such as timing.

As for the review criteria, our team will consider the following elements:

1. Design concept - complex concepts may not be suitable as the stamps are small in size.

2. Copyright issues - like celebrities, trademarks, etc.

3. ** Universality and popularity** - voting and data collection will be used as references.

4. ** Uniqueness** - whether similar concepts have been executed

5. *Accompanying message *- can it inspire curiosity about the world, promote universal values and make collecting stamps a joy?

There are countless interesting things in the world, and we believe that getting everyone involved is an essential step.

Some concepts are indeed very precious, but not necessarily applicable to small stamps. Hence, our team is developing a new product to promote cultures around the world in another way. Stay tuned!

When we received this idea from Ruth (She is also a Filipino translation volunteer for SLOWLY. Thank you!), we all liked it and started preparations without hesitation.

During the information collection process, we feel as if we have travelled all over the world to celebrate Christmas. Other than food, we also found some interesting traditions. For instance, we learned that Catalan in Spain would prepare a Tió de Nadal starting on December 8th, feed it food and water, and cover it with a blanket to keep it warm. Then, on Christmas Eve, the children will hit the tió with wooden sticks and sing the ‘Caga tió’ song. The lyrics literally mean ‘Shit, log!’. Finally, after a round of beating, the children will receive Christmas gifts from under the blanket.

Our team members attach great importance to cultural diversity and are excited whenever we learn a new tradition. We believe that SLOWLY users are also curious about the world, and food (and stamps) is a great way to bring us closer together.

Why do we need to learn about the cultures of different places?

By knowing the cultures of other countries, we can get to know each other on a deeper level: take into consideration where your pen pal comes from, their traditions and values. Sometimes, you will notice that different cultures have similar origins or interconnected historical relationships, and you can even relearn your own culture from them. Learning to accept and embrace cultural differences can also broaden one’s horizons and mind. Perhaps the next time you travel around the world, you will find that the various moments from making pen pals will bring you a different experience.
